Anatomy of a 48-hour weekend

The same nine beats, whichever event it turns out to be.

    01 PREP

    Read the rules twice. Pick tools. Decide who owns what. Nobody touches the repo yet.

  2. T-1d

    02 SETUP

    Repo, accounts, and a deploy pipeline that works before there is anything to deploy.

  3. H+00

    03 KICKOFF

    Hear the brief. Argue for ten minutes. Pick the idea that fits in 48 hours, not 480.

  4. H+02

    04 PLAN

    Sketch it on a whiteboard, split the work, and agree on what done looks like.

  5. H+06

    05 BUILD

    Vertical slice first. Ugly and working beats pretty and imaginary. Commit early, commit often.

  6. H+30

    06 TEST

    Everyone tries to break everyone else's work. Findings become tickets; tickets become fixes.

  7. H+40

    07 FREEZE

    Feature freeze. Only bug fixes and demo polish from here.

  8. H+46

    08 DEMO PREP

    Script the story, rehearse twice, record a backup video in case the wifi has other plans.

  9. H+48

    09 SHIP

    Submit. Demo. Sleep. Write down what the cat learned.
